The Royal Society's motto 'Nullius in verba' roughly translates as 'take nobody's word for it'. It is an expression of the determination of Fellows to withstand the domination of authority and to verify all statements by an appeal to facts determined by experiment.
Truth in Science is a Limited Company, run by a Board of Directors who are advised by a Council of Reference and a Scientific Panel. These are listed below with brief descriptions. It should be noted that other organisations which individuals represent may not necessarily hold the same position as Truth in Science on some issues. Board of DirectorsStephen Hyde (Chairman)Chartered Engineer and Managing Director of a Building and Development Company. Andy McIntoshEmeritus Professor of Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory at the University of Leeds and author of over 150 research papers. Prof. McIntosh’s research includes biomimetics where natural mechanisms are studied with a view to using them for engineering applications. In particular, his research on the minute combustion chamber of the bombardier beetle has inspired a patented novel spray technology with applications to fuel injectors, pharmaceutical sprays, fire extinguishers and aerosols. This research was awarded the 2010 Times Higher Education award for the Outstanding Contribution to Innovation and Technology. His work has also included investigations into the fundamental link between thermodynamics and information. He has written numerous articles concerning the debate over Origins. Philip MetcalfeAn agriculturalist, also involved with the publication and distribution of evangelical Christian literature, particularly in the Russian language. Steve TaylorProfessor in Physical Electronics at the University of Liverpool, and head of the mass spectrometry research group in the School of Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, Dr Taylor's research involves design, simulation and fabrication of microengineered electronic devices as well as detailed physical measurements at nanoscale dimensions. He is author or co-author of over 200 papers and articles in the scientific literature. Council of ReferenceStuart BurgessProfessor of Engineering Design, and Head of Mechanical Engineering at Bristol University. Prof. Burgess’ research includes analysis of insect flight mechanisms and the structural efficiency of trees.
